Gift Suggestions!

Thu Nov 27, 2008 10:54 am

So Christmas is coming and I'm encountering the same problem I come up against with any present-giving holiday. I have no idea what to get my parents! lol

We were doing well giving my dad the Seinfeld dvds, but he now has them all. He also likes Nascar, but we've given him quite a bit of that. He used to like reading a lot, but since his Parkinson's picked up, I don't think he can much anymore. The same with the model cars he used to do and the tools we used to buy him. Also, he does not wear ties. :P He likes oldies music, but I think my sister got him some cd collections a couple years ago. I was thinking maybe some sort of e-book, but he's not very computer literate. haha

I've already gotten my mom a bottle of Snow White 2008 perfume oil from BPAL since she really liked mine last year. I want to get her something else as well, because that's kind of small. I'm not sure what, though. She likes house things. We've given her a really nice towel set, candles with fancy candleholders, and a tablecloth with cloth napkins in the past. I have no idea what else to give her this year. lol I'm giving her an online gift cerfiticate to get a free download game (she loves those) for her birthday, which we couldn't afford at the time, too. I'd make her some jewelry, but she still hasn't worn the earrings I gave her last year. haha

Does anyone have any suggestions? What are you getting your parents?

I gave my parents 1 $20 gift card each to use at myer. I dunno if it was ok or not. But I was out of ideas.

My mum's getting Jo Malone bath oils (arm and a leg they're costing me too!) and my dad is getting series one of Dexter on DVD and a box of chocolate liqueurs.

EDIT: Could you get your dad an audio book?

I gave my mom free movie tickets last year and she just gave them back for us to use. haha They do like to eat out now and then, so maybe a gift certificate to a nice restaurant might be good. Maybe we can give my dad a tray of Christmas cookies and a gift certificate to somewhere. He does love baked goods. :)
