Anything and everything goes in here... within reason.

My music teacher was asking this in class today.
Can you keep a steady beat or rhythm without any help? Like, if you try to play a game like DDR or Rock Band, can you stay on beat with the song? Or are you hopeless?
I have a really good sense for rhythm and beat, which makes me good at playing rhythm games like Rock Band and DDR.

I do...in fact, I was a percussionist all through junior high and high school.
Tragically, I cannot dance, though, regardless of the beat - I have a natural flow, but I also have unnaturally idiotic hips.

Well, I can play DDR pretty well. However, in Rock Band I'm the bassist of my "band" and I only function properly when we have a good drummer. I suck at the drums.
Then when I clap to songs, I tend to get off-beat after a few minutes...
So yes and no I have a beat, but more towards no.

I have pretty good internal rhythm. I can play DDR and guitar hero. I can even keep a beat well enough to conduct other people in a band.
Sometimes I get bored....if I play the same rhythmic pattern by myself over and over with no variation I'll just zone out and lose it. But when I'm focused I'm good.

Well I hope so considering I've danced since I was tiny! I love tap. Sadly, my feet/eye co-ordination isn't quite as good as my sense of rhythm, I get horribly confused with higher levels of DDR.

I like to think I do. I used to play Sax, Clarinet and Keyboard and managed to keep a beat.
When it comes to rockband/guitar hero I can also do it. DDR is another story...for some of the songs I have no problem, but once things speed up I get lost. lol

Hm. With over 20 years of active piano playing....and 18 years of various types of dance....I'd say so.
Seriously, though, when I was in 8th grade, the cross country coach would tell my teammates that I could keep the steadiest pace - once I started, I didn't speed up or slow down at all (during workouts, that is - races were a different animal) - mostly cause I could keep a very steady beat. Perhaps I would've made a good percussionist...but I'm afraid I like my own instruments too much.

I have decent rhythm; I can sort of set a counter in my brain to keep track of beats, and that keeps me from getting off-beat.

Seeing as I'm a musician, um, yes - natural rhythm and beat here
Wed Nov 19, 2008 1:08 am
I used to play drums. But I play guitar now. Yes I have natural rhythm and beat.

Well, yes, to a certain extent. I can clap along and not get off the beat, and I do Irish stepdancing, so I'd say my rhythm is better than most. At the same time, though, if there's ambient noise or the music's too low (or the person I'm competing against gets off), I find it easy to get off tempo when I'm dancing hard shoe -- but that has more to do with muscle memory issues than beat issues, I think...

I...think so. I'm not much of a DDR/Rock Band/Guitar Hero player, so I can't make any comparisons there. But I have been playing the piano for eight years, and trombone for five.

Yep.
Whenever I forgot my clarinet in band, the conductor would put me on bass drum to help the rest of the band keep beat. haha

OMG.
You of all people I expected to be a DDR fan.
I have a pretty decent rhythm. I can play Rock Band, I can do DDR.
So...yeah. I guess.

AHAHAHA. The one time I did play DDR was when our band went on a field trip to our local mall (YES. IT WAS EXCITING.) and a bunch of my friends and I went to the arcade. I played(danced?) one round. And I got owned. Badly.
