I'll hafta get my boyfriend, he is/was pretty fluent in Japanese. He studied it for years then stayed there for a few months. He's trying to get me to learn it, haha.

I've been learning for a while now, and i'm not that good but I know a few things.
In the first bit of jap you posted, I think you accidentally made that a question.
And in the second, isn't bread ぱん？

Yeah. My typing mistake.
I d/led Rosetta Stone and I've been using it. It works really well, considering I remember everything and I haven't used the program in weeks.

I wish I could at least recognize kanji so I could babelfish some manga that's out but hasn't been translated yet, but it all shows up as ?????????? on my PC.

Don't even try. Babelfish thinks that the word for boy is actually 'that it is'.

I don't understand the Japanese signs but I do know a few Japanese words like:
Strawberry = Ichigo
Cat = Neko
Cherry Blossom= Sakura
But I have no idea what the desert that we love and know as trifle is called in Japanese.
