Anything and everything goes in here... within reason.

Dear Lord, I haven't been here in ages. To those of you that know me, hello! To those of you that don't, just smile awkwardly and wave in my general direction and pretend you remember me. This will help ensure that I don't dwell too long on how much time has passed since my last visit.
I know I've been scarce and I'm very sorry about that. I'm now in my sophomore year of college as a communication design major in a very competitive program. For those of you who are aware of what my major entails, that last sentence is a perfect explanation of my absence. For those of you who aren't aware, let's just say that four hours of sleep in a row is considered a luxury, I begin to tremble violently upon hearing the word 'kerning', and I regularly sustain injuries from Xacto knives. Let's not even get into what the mere thought of stippling can do to me.
I do think of this place quite often and wonder how you are all doing. PPT really helped me through some rough years of my life and I suspect I'll always nurse a soft spot for this forum. I did often think about how it must seem like I dropped off the face of the earth, but I haven't. (I just went to college which is pretty much the same thing.) I also am filled with the kind of guilt that only a born and raised Hispanic Catholic can muster when I think about my moderating responsibilities.
This semester is even crazier than before, but I still want to make a true effort to participate here more often. The bottom line is I've missed you all, and I hope you all don't mind me doing what I usually do in my Historical Survey of Graphic Design lecture- sneaking in the back door and taking the nearest available seat, totally red-faced, late but still determined to attend.
Don't worry, I like this place quite a bit more than two hours of my fanboy professor gabbing on about how much he loves Andy Warhol.
Love,
Fidds

*waves to you*
Hello Fidds! I'm not sure if you remember me, but I'm back here for the moment. It's good to see you.
Fri Feb 08, 2008 7:52 pm
Fidds! I can assure you we've missed you too. Good to see you back sweetheart.
EDIT: Apparently, I'm unable to construct a coherent sentence whilst attacking a chicken burger. Apologies.

Hey Aunty Fidds
Good to see you drop in for a bit ^^
Fri Feb 08, 2008 8:23 pm
That's it - I made a new set. You're stuck with me.
Fri Feb 08, 2008 8:27 pm
Yay! Fidds is back!

Fidds is returned to us!

As a student at a slacker college, I've got only a fraction of your workload and it's threatening to force me to curl up in the fetal position and hide for three months. I can't fully imagine the level of crazy you're experiencing, but I can imagine that if it's more than enough to take up the time normally reserved for sleeping and mental recovery, it's more than enough to take up the time reserved for PPT too.
In other words--a BIG welcome back, and no hard feelings as long as you don't kill yourself with overwork because we'd miss you even more.

Ugh, sometimes I get cranky and feel like dropping out and becoming a professional bag lady.
Due Monday:
- six 8.5 x 6 inch postcard designs, front and back, mounted
- hand made envelope for said postcards
- full-color concept sketches in marker for a full-sized theatre poster
- the worksheet that goes along with the concept/name for the play, which we have to make up by ourselves
- 20 photographs taken in the style of Diane Arbus
- 8.5 x 11 in scratchboard illustration
- study for a test on two chapters in Historical Survey of Graphic design. DAMN YOU, DE STIJL!!!
If anybody needs me, I'll be tearing my scalp off in the Mac lab that's "conveniently located" on the other side of campus.

Welcome back, Fidds! Please do survive college. =D
Fri Feb 08, 2008 9:25 pm
Hey darlin'. I was going to make a similar thread since I'm popping my head through the forum door after a fairly mad half term of University. But there's not much point, so I'll just post in yours.
I have every faith in you kicking a lot of arse in what you're doing.
And I hope the other things are going well too.
Lots of love and that.

Fidds!!
Welcome back!!
Sorry to hear about the work, but look on the bright side - at least it's not 20 page papers due tomorrow on the works of somereallyboringguyhere!!
Speaking of Andy Warhol, I just heard a quote today by him, and it really struck me. I think it was "People should fall in Love with their eyes closed".

Hey, it's you! You don't sleep for more than 4 hours? That's it, my decision is sealed. I'm not going to college. Ever. I need about 15 hours of sleep a day currently
I only get it on weekends though. Anyway, you better stick around, cause I'm not used to a world where nobody knows your name! XD Plus you're cool and all. Yeah. That too.

*chuckles*
Oh Fidds. You think that your school load is tough? Wait until the working world smacks you right in the face with deadline after deadline after deadline.
*hugs* I miss you and our random late night convo's.
