Anything and everything goes in here... within reason.

The worst nightmare I can remember at the moment involved my going to see The Fantasticks on Broadway, but getting lost and winding up seeing this malformed mockery of a crossover between Dirty Rotten Scoundrels and Yellow Submarine instead. The sadist in my skull that can sully Mel Brooks and the Beatles at the same time has to be drow, seriously.
And right there, that involves:
1. Book, movie or play being a complete ripoff
2. Getting lost in an ever-shifting maze with eerie half-light
3. Running at a snail's pace
4. Surreal half-digested allegory
5. Sellers of third-rate food
6. Infinite loop mode
Add in gigantic furniture and nagging doubts that I didn't do my homework, and the bases are covered.
So, what keeps popping up in your nightmares over and over?

I've actually only had one nightmare that I can remember.
When I was like two or three, I dreamt that I was in the larger of my two local malls, which had two glass elevators (still does). I was in one, and a gigantic owl was in the other - he/she/it looked across the space between the elevators and said, "I see you."
Freaked the bizarro out of me, I assure you. I woke up screaming and freaked out my parents.
Since then, I've not had one that I recall. I'm sure they've been there, but my dreams tend to very quickly devolve into James Bond-esque exploits and evenings with repressed female Soviet generals.

Usually the only bad dreams of mine tend to involve spiders. Usually they're everywhere I go, or they tend to grow in size... or are immortal...
I do not like spiders... *shiver*

I used to have a recurring dream when I was younger. I would be in my room and I would run out into the living room towards my mom, who was sitting in the recliner. Behind me I would see a giant black hole of sorts (it wasn't pitch black, it had blood-red swirls) eating the house and basically the world. Every time I would get on the chair, and the hole would get smaller, then the dream would end. One time I wondered what would happen if I didn't get on the chair, so I didn't and the hole swallowed me up. Ever since then I've never had that dream again.
Other than that, there hasn't really been any dreams that have had a recurring theme. Although a lot of my dreams are related to movies I've seen.

My nightmares arn't very frightening in terms of images. Its all very phycological.
My recent nightmares have to do with me going against everything that is happening in my life. I do not mean fighting what is happening. But doing something in which I know I could not do in reality. The worse one has been going to see someone who I have lost recently (not to death) and asking one last hug. I know that will never happen in real life. TOo much has happened. I have this nightmare almost everynight and everytime i wake up on the verge of tears. its all very phycological. Someone else who had this dream wouldn't care but this nightmare is what gets to me. its what affects me the most.

I tend to find myself being attacked by bizarre little creatures that look like various combinations of lobsters, slugs, and insects.
Another recurring theme(usually covered with a thin layer of metaphor) is losing control of my life and dying somehow.
Also I keep having nightmares involving tooth decay--teeth rotting, teeth falling out, having tooth-related pain, and so on. It turns out my sister does the same thing. I think we worry about our teeth too much.
Lately, I keep waking up and still seeing things. That, for me, is worse than any nightmare, because it usually takes me about thirty seconds to figure out what's real and what's not, and in the meantime I'm seriously creeped out.

Moongewl - I once heard that dreams about teeth are something to do with money! Though I just did a google, and
this says a whole lot of different things.
My recurring bad dreams tend to involve me having to pack my bags really quickly (I'm going away, or there's a natural disaster or something). I'm always running out of time, and realise that I've left behind something important/treasured! The dreams aren't scary, so much as stressful.
I think I'm trying to tell myself that I'm too attached to my possessions

Um... I don't believe I've ever had a nightmare. My dreams (when I have them) are *usually* pretty down to earth and realistic, and I often wake up and not really know if what happened was real or not. Sometimes I'll even ask a friend "Remember when you [insert thing here]?" and get "Um... I never did that...", while I'm convinced that it did happen (though it would be something very minor like a conversation or joke)
I've died a few time in dreams, but the dreams were so comical that they weren't "undesirable", as I would assume nightmares usually are, and I would just come back and everything would go on normally. I think I normally control my dreams pretty well... at least those that I can remember a few hours after I wake up.

Monsters don't really bother me. Freaky dreams don't affect me. The dreams I'll call nightmares are the ones when someone I love has died. Like when my mom fell from a very tall staircase. That was pretty horrific.

When I do have a nightmare it is always similar...I am being chased by someone for one reason or another, and I am usually in a big place (a huge mall, a giant ship, somewhere with alot of hiding places) I have to run and hide so he can't get me, usually he gets within inches of grabbing me and I get away only to run somewhere else. It gets very dramatic and scary sometimes.
My worst ever was being chased by by my parents who had been taken over by aliens, I ran down this dirt road in the dark and they were chasing me. I tripped and fell and gave up. I was lying on my side as they poured some kind of liquid in my ear to make me become an alien too. and I woke up. That was maybe 13-14 years ago and it still gets to me.
I also had a dream once that a wasp was in my room and I had to get it out. It finally went out the door and I closed it. Then I opened it to see if the wasp was gone and it came flying right at my face. I woke up batting at the sheet that had fallen on my face in the night. Funny afterwards but not at the time.

My worst nightmares are ones in which I get left behind or everyone's against me. Generally, they arent scary. Theyre just about being abandoned and forgotten by people that I care about. Usually its silly stuff like my mother leaving for a party, and forgetting that I'd wanted to go with her. In the dreams, the horrible abandonment feeling is magnified ridiculously, and I always wake up sobbing.
Very rarely I'll have monster-type dreams with scary things chasing me. But most of the time, I'll either befriend the monsters and join their inner circle, or turn into some crazy hero and save the world. Not very nightmarish o_o

I actually don't have very many nightmares... and most of the ones I'm supposed to have I either find hilariously crazy/weird/extremely sad. I remember one time when I was younger, I had a dream about turning into a monster that could only eat wax crayons and there were people chasing after my monster family and me, and I would get away but my monster family wouldn't, and I woke up ready to cry.
Anyways. Most of the nightmarish dreams I have feature demons or the like attacking my family/me and everything being dark, very dark. I also had cats attacking me two nights in a row, and it was quite startling... however that could probably be dismissed as my cats deciding it was time to play at three o'clock in the morning and me just incorporating them into my dream rather than waking up. XD

The worst kinds of dreams that I get are the kinds where i'm stuck in a video game.
Or sometimes when I study something and all I can dream about are math questions.
The worst part is when I wake up every 5 minutes and try to dream about something else, but just can't escape it.

I have this repeating dream where I am crossing this one steep road near the house I lived at when I was little. My friend's mom takes her across the road first, and my brother and his friend run across, and I don't want to be silly and wait by myself so I try to cross. I slide all the way down the hill, then wake up.

A lot of my dreams consist of:
1. Me dying for whatever reason
2. Me being murdered
3. Someone dying, getting hurt, etc.
4. One of my pets running away
5. Seeing people that I don't know
6. Talking or at least I think that I'm talking to someone
7. Someone doing something illegal (that may include me)
8. Something related to my school
Often my dreams will skip around to different places and moments in time. I used to have dreams almost every night, now it's only once in a while.
