Hi, so my Sweet 16 is in June, and I'm starting to plan things now. But I need some help deciding on theme, decorations, etc. We're renting a firehouse or someplace like that and having 50 to 60 people.
So I need your creative ideas!!
Thanks!

Alright, this is going to sound really weird, but I used to live around the Goshen area of New York (well, technically, Monticello) and I moved a few months ago. But yeah, for DJs, I used Black Box of Wes. He works out of Smallwood, and he's actually pretty cheap and he's decent. I had mine at Fibber's on the Concord (the country club in Monticello) so they catered it, and as far as decorations go for theme, pick something you really like that's pretty easy to make into a party. My friend used a Casino theme, my cousins used Classic Movies (like Gone with the Wind), and I used Moulin Rouge. Hope that helped a little.

A gangsters and molls theme would be amazing. It could be fancy dress and you could really go to town with the decor.

I've always thought it would be fun to have a masquerade ball-themed party. Everyone could dress all pretty and have those fancy masks and you could drink sparkling wine and pretend to be sophisticated and whatnot. It would be spectacular. Or at least I think so, but I have strange taste.
Whatever you do, don't act like those bloody spoiled rotten girls on My Super Sweet Sixteen on MTV that demand they be the center of attention and have a ridiculous looking $5000 dress that makes them look like a prostitute and a brigade of shirtless guys to carry them in on a chariot. God forbid anything go wrong at their party. Good lord I want to smack the lot of them.

Apricus is totally right on. A Masquerade would be pretty frikken cool.
And you could save money for the DJ, by using an iPod

Nothing in particular. Also, it's not the legal driving age everywhere--that varies from state to state. It's just supposedly a special tradition for people in our culture. (Personally, I can't even remember what I did on my sixteenth birthday, and that was less than three years ago.)
