Ever died in your dreams?

Sun Dec 31, 2006 5:17 pm

What? Am I not allowed to be morbid? ;)

Anyway, this poll just struck me out of thin air and I thought it was a very unusual one so thought I'd take a look and see what REALLY happens when people 'die' in their dreams.

For me, it's usually me going off a cliff edge or being eaten by a monster while pretending I'm taking part in Doctor Who (seriously o_0) and according to a few experts your brain shuts off and you actually do die...but I don't think it does.

I usually wake right up startled, or go into another dream. What about you?

I've died in my dreams a few times. Mostly by falling out of planes (one of my phobias).

Haha, I once had a dream manyyyy years back where a bunch of people from my school were in this spaceship type thing having a free-for-all fight to the death with laser guns and hoverboards.

Some stuff happened (it wasn't gory, it was basically "get-shot-fall-down-dead like in Power Rangers" No blood or the like, just explosions and falling down), some girl from the school came back trying to blast me, I blasted her, and then I got shot in the head and um randomly respawned in a different scenario.

RAWRG zombies. :o I was hiding in my friends very first home looking for weapons. Can't remember what happened in the middle, but I was the only "non-zombie" left and got taken down... then came back to life out of nowhere still in zombie-land. More stuff I can't remember happened and then I woke up.

Probably the only non-realistic dream I've had (well, that I can remember. I almost never remember dreams for very long anyway) The rest are boring like everyday life, so later in the day after I wake up, I'm not sure if the stuff that I dreamt actually happened or was in a dream. :P No dying though. Just that one dream, but it was a rather entertaining dream.

(when I have them, I don't get peaceful enough sleep to really get them anymore. -_-)

I had one dream where I died, back in like, first grade or something. And I still remember it almost perfectly. It's hilarious when I retell it, but it freaked me so much when I had it.

I was in this, like, square place, and it was up and down instead of flat across, with houses across the top and then the road, and there was this carnival thing going on. It started out all happy and cheery and all, but as the dream prgressed it got all dark and evil. Like a parade of evil gorillas, I think it was. I went down to this house that was in the bottom left hand corner, and went inside. The house belonged to an evil witch, who fed me poisoned soup and I died.
I came back to life at the top of the square, kind of like in a video game. For some strange reason, I went back to the witch's house. She fed me poisoned soup again, and I died again. And came back to life at the top of the square again. And for some odd reason, I went back to the witch's house again. She tried to feed me the poisoned soup again, but I got away and escaped through the house of one of the boys in my class and went to the non-existant town pool :P

I used to read a lot about dreams, and at some point I read that when people die in their dreams they either die and are instantly reborn into the same dream, or die and go somewhere(like heaven) as a continuation of the dream.
I've never actually died in a dream, but I had a dream once that consisted entirely of me being dead. I wasn't in any setting or anything; I was just a disembodied awareness floating in nothing. This was back when I was ten or twelve, and absolutely terrified of death. That dream pretty much took care of my fears because I was utterly content throughout it.

I never remember my dreams, but I do remember this.

Somehow in my dream I fell off... something... cliff probably.

Now I was falling feet first.

And since my brain seemed to think that falling = instadeath I immediately woke up.

This has hillarious effects as it felt like gravity completely messed up...

Then gravity changed again as I fell off my bed.

Not that I know of. XD

I think I've always woken off at the moment when I die. I have quite idiotic ways of dying in my dreams. Once it was an alien invasion, then I was dueling with someone and I lost, not to mention the countless falls from great heights or planes. In one of those falls I didn't die, though, I just kept on bouncing o_O
Last night someone pointed a gun at me, but I think I woke up or drifted into another dream instantly, because I don't recall any of it.

yes. :)

I've drowned, been caught in an avalanche, been caught in a volcano eruption, been drowned again in a flood, and been eaten by a packet of noodles.

All good. :D

o.O? That had me, quite literally, laughing out loud. How does one get eaten by a packet of noodles?

Sun Dec 31, 2006 8:40 pm

In Soviet Russia, Noodles eat YOU!

It was probably the flying spaghetti monster.

Often. Usually violently.

One time a guy videotaped me, falling out of a hot air balloon, a boody mess, and put it on YouTube.

Once, I was transported to the future, where humans had become perfect in every way. I was murdered, because I was from the imperfect past.

Bats once mauled my entire family to death.

And sometimes when I was young I had a dream in which a dot on a circluar track was attempting to reach me. Avoiding it was a suicide mission, since it never slowed- and it killed me upon touching me.

That's all that comes to mind.

Can't remember ever actually dying in my dreams, unless you count being made a vampire in last nights. o_O
I do kill a lot mind, probably something about my Ego in that I imagine.

I usually don't remember most of my dreams. Those that I do I've sometimes fallen and such (the conclusion being that I probably would have died) but I never get to that stage before waking up or switching to another dream.
