Comic Book Convention

Sat May 14, 2005 1:28 pm

I'm going to a dork convention later on today, probably in an hour, when I get back, I'll update you on it. Ken Foree from the original Dawn Of The Dead is going to be there, and I'm going to get my DOTD box set signed by him, and Jeffery Combs from Re-Animator is going to be there, and I'm getting my DVD signed bu him. If any of you remember Hacksaw Jim Dugan, the wrestler, he's gonna be there too, I mostly want to see him because he's probably crazy eyes, but I must admit I am afraid that he might attempt to eat me. :P I'm gonna try to get some old comics, Sin City comics, movie posters, Bootleg DVDs, ya know, the whole thing. I got about 200 to spend.

Wow, that sounds awesome. :) I've always wanted to go to a comic book convention. :) I keep getting emails from Wizard Universe about their Wizard World Philly convention and it just looks awesome. I hope you have a great time and find some really good deals. ;)

Btw, do some people dress up like characters for comic conventions like they do for anime conventions and such? I've always wondered about that . . .

Ah. Comic conventions. How I love them.

The atmosphere is fantastic, the costumes are (most of the time) great and there's a heap of stuff to buy and get signed. The hardcore fans can be a bit intimidating, but once you're used to their constant trivia fights, then things ain't so bad. I usually find it best to take a friend or two so that I don't get bombarded by people who want to see my card collections or something. :)

I've only been to one comic book convention.
Uhm.. lemme think who was there.. Lou Ferrigno (Hulk from the tv show) was there and uhm.. these comic books guys.. and some pretty popular comic book guy that was a complete butthead.
It was just a little convention though.

My brother and his wife went to a pretty big one though in Chicago.
They got to see alot of people I can't remember.
Only ones I remember are Kevin Smith and the creators of my most fav comic ever Elfquest (and they got me their autographs :D)

Well, I bought an Undead (comes out in summer) and a Braindead bootleg DVD. Got Ken Foree to sign DOTD, and Jeffrey Combs put "you're next" on Re-Animator. I bought a red "Marv" Sin City poster, a print of a U.S. Army zombie soldier, signed; A frank frazzetta 1977 calender, bought a "I heart zombies" t-shirt, "The Eternals" issue 2, "Kull the conqueror" issue 2, "Sin City - The Big Fat Kill" issue 2 of 5, and "Conan the Barabarian" King size issue 1, and for free: Fantastic Four poster, Undead poster, The Devils Rejects poster, Aeon Flux poster, Unleashed pin, High Tension poster, and a High Tension sticker.
