and work!

now all thats needed is a secret underground monastary home to an army of uber-psychers to defend mankind against the predetations of the dark gods (
100 brownie points to whoever gets that one)
still, rather cool pictures, and a rather eyrie radio transmission.
oh and the prospect of the first true alien life (probably not sentient mind you
) because of the methan oceans

I'm still waiting for us to land on Europa. But anyways...it seems like they found evidence of a flood plain or something, pretty cool. I heard frozen rock shaped organisms inhabit its deepest darkest crevices.

Hehe. They're saying the place is like Earth 4 billion years or so ago. (Before life had formed, that is... but... maybe there's Bearbugs! ^^)
Europa's got water, right? Yeah, I'd be all OMGWTF! if there was like... life and I'd be cowering in a corner, hiding from alien sharks... and then I'd be all "Oh wait this proves me right. HOORAY!"
Sun Jan 16, 2005 6:48 am
not sharks as you know them.
too cold... yes.. europa isnt the volcanic one, so yeah too cold.

ERr... woops. Are you sure about that...
Psst! Marvin, you have to help me disable this bomb before it blows... or else all the ice will a splode, revealing hidden volcanoes!

fairly...
probably wrong in retrospect then, couldve sworn it wasnt europa that was volcanic..
well theyd still be differant to anything on earth, mainly because the heat sources there are rather more toxic.

That's great news. The last news I read about any probes was in a science magazine, about the Mars Rover.
There is so much more than I thought involved in a landing.
They had to put the rover in some kind of capsule, release it, and have it parachute to the surface.

I saw the news on TV last night.
Pretty cool ^_^

Io is the mondo volcanic one. Europa is interesting because its completely covered in ice. Now if I could only remember what ice is made out of, I might remember why that's important.

The probes will probably by now be infested with intergalactic space rats.

Yes! Us europeans finally built something that works!!! Well, I guess all we have to do is wait until the aliens head to Earth and then send them a copy of War Of The Worlds. and then make everyone on the planet watch it as a planatery defense manual.

Ixistant, your right! I'm going to the library now... err, wait, not right now, but as soon as I can... and check out both the book and the movie just in case!

And don't forget the preview of the new version starring Tom Cruise. But I've just realised. We shouldn't send them a copy of the movie as they might come to Earth wearing HazMat suits. *Imagines a large, gelatenous blob with 14 tentacles in a HazMat suit*
OT: Please, call me Stuart
Or Sir Geekalot. Whichever one you fancy

It's water ice. Since there's water underneath the layer of ice (presumably), there may be life down there.

Exactly...there is speculation that because the temperature of a planet (or moon as it is in this case) gets warmer closer to the center, there could be water under the ice. I have been facinated by Europa since about sixth grade I think. It would be really neat if we sent some sort of a probe there.
