Gah! What should I write about?

Thu Dec 09, 2004 3:45 pm

I need a serious brainstorming session. I really need ideas to write about for my journalism class for the next paper. I need two articles, and golly, i'm stumped!

Are political topics allowed? If so, you could do Rumsfeld's Q&A with the troops, an excellent opportunity to practice neutrality and the inverted pyramid.

We usually leave those controverial topics to the opinions columist. We are not allowed religion and racism, but other than that, we are allowed most anything else.

What about something in the entertainment industry?

About how flies are annoying little bugs who are trying to take over the world...

Or at least annoying them to death... Argh! *Swats at fly flying around her head* Die fly, Diiiieee!

umm... Literature? An strong opinion on something? Something you reallly, REALLY think should be changed in the world? Something in the world with lots of faults? A humor column?

hehe, I need if for the Jan paper...I could write on neopets, it is very popular in my journalism class, hmmm...what else though, i mean ifits controversial it might stay (colums and comics are usually the first cut when we run out of space so I stick to features, reviews and what not.)

I would write it on video game/TV violence and its adverse effects on small children. Anybody who claims that violent TV shows and games have no effect on little kids who watch them should babysit around here for a while. It's become downright scary!

And what exactly is your definition of small kids? *tilts head* I work at a summer camp, and it's amazing how little of the violence we see considering some of the kids I work with.

*blinks*

I like the idea of writing about neopets. Either that, or you should write about how "White on White" (the painting) isn't art. *twitch* Actually thats what i'm writing on... heh. Eep.

Neopets!

Kids from Preschool to First Grade. I had to break up a fight between two kids because one of them tried to "shoot" the other one with a ruler and ended up whacking him repeatedly with it upon discovering that rulers don't shoot bullets. I asked him why he did it and he said that the other kid called him... erm... something I'm certain we have in the filter... and he said that he was "good at shooting people" because he "practiced" on his computer.

Parents, please look at game ratings before you buy them for your children.

I'm thinking something about a book or movie you like, maybe...

Or protesting something you hate, but I'm thinking that might be cut, unfortunately.
Maybe you can do a humour thing with filks!

And that's not true all the time... although yes, small children can be... erm... *filtered word here* if they become so stinking confident at their games, but on Furcadia I have been in some of the most gory roleplays in Roleplay history, COOL3 and all (COOL3 means no OOC consent is needed for a character's death and things can be as violent or otherwise mature [[o.o;;]] as the players wish.) and I'm not affected. It's just made me a better Roleplayer and Improv person... gotta go along with it, no Consent Rule in Cool3!

Ok, I'm rambling. Sorry.
