What are some fads or trends that you remember from when you were younger? I'm a pop-culture hermit (and I couldn't keep up even if I cared), so the only way I know about any fads is if multiple people are constantly bringing certain objects into school. Here are some that occurred in my elementary school.

Second grade (mostly boys): yo-yos
Third grade (mostly girls): milky pens
Fourth grade (mostly girls): putty
Fourth grade (mostly boys): toy cars that you could pull back to wind up and then race them down the slides

Whatever you call it when you squeeze up an empty water bottle and let the cap fly off and hit the person sitting opposite you at the lunch table. (seriously, is there a word for this?)

I remember there were those... things. Erm, Krazybones? Something like that. That was a fad, when I was about in year 3. Pokemon, too.
There were those spiderman flicky things that you put on your wrist and they threw a disk out of them... but they never worked :)
Oh, we had yoyo's too. Those posh ones that cost loads and had strange names...
For the girls, you had to have a headband with your name on it in those plastic gems... preferably baby pink or blue :)

Pogs, oh yes definitely. I remember grades 4 and 5 ('96-'98) were all Nano Pets all the time. Tamagotchis, Giga Pets, whatever the heck else there was, it was played.

Those same grades were all about dancing to Spice Girls and Aqua. Good times. Pokemon was grade 6 as well.

I remember poking holes in the top of pop cans, shaking it up, and spraying people. Or shaking a can up and letting the pop hit the ceiling. Oh how we were ignorant.

I remember that in P5, playing yo yo and spinning tops were the latest trends. Going into Y7/8, Yu-Gi-Oh and Pokemon were the norm. In Y9, Magic The Gathering was played. After that, we were all grown up and stopped bringing the latest toys to play.

Krazybones! I thought I was gonna be the only one to mention those. Everyone was crazy about them in like first and second grade. I think I still have mine, actually... Then we had pokemon cards, and then yo-yos (I had a light-up one. It was amazing.)

There's only one that I actually remember and it's from elementary school (3rd through 5th grade).

Snap bracelets - those ones that you could straighten and then you'd smack it on your wrist and it would wrap around you. Those things hurt if you did it too many times in a row.

Some very popular fads were yo-yos, collecting and swapping Spice Girls post cards, Tamagotchis (the only fad I actually participated in), bouncy balls, and plastic pacifiers in all colours and sizes. Oh, and the 'Push Pop' lollipops. 10 years ago that was THE candy. Man, fads are so weird.

I remember Pokemon Cards, Yu-Gi-Oh Cards, Krazy bones, all that good stuff.

But in 4th grade, the livestrong bracelets were really popular. Everyone wore one with a bunch of other variations of it.

Tamagotchi, Pokemon, Digimon, Yu-Gi-Oh!, Krazybones, and Spice Girls.
I remember watching the movie when it premiered on Starz or HBO or whichever one it was. I wanted my hair up like Baby Spice for like four months. XD
