Literature Competition ((See my last post!))

Wed Sep 15, 2004 12:21 pm

This idea was first suggested by Qanda in the Library forum.

How it Works

Each week, I will post a list of twenty questions. All competitors have one week to PM me their answers. If you get at least half of them right, you move on to the next round. If you don't get half right, then you are out of the competition.

Rules

1. All answers must be PMed to me. Posting allows too much cheating to be done.

2. Please do not look up anything on the internet. I know there's really no way to catch this, but I'm asking you to please not do this. If you ARE caught, then you'll be disqualified.

3. The answers are a bit flexible. If the answer to a question is Richard Adams then I will accept Richard Adam. If your mispellings are readable and I can tell what you mean, then you are not out.

4. Please, no teasing to those who do not qualify for the next rounds. It's incredibly rude.

5. After I give out the questions, all of you have one week to PM me your answers. If you can't manage to get it to me or Alex (same comment as above) within a week, you'll be disqualified- UNLESS you have a good excuse.

6. Have fun!

Question Submissions

If there's a question you think would be good for this competition, please PM me with it. The question must be from a pretty well-known book. The genre of the book does not matter in the least. Then, I will use some of the better questions I find for future rounds. Again, I really stress that the book is well-known or close to it. There most likely won't be any questions accepted about a Pokemon book, whereas questions about a classic are very likely to get in.

Prizes

There will most likely be prizes, yet I have not decided on them yet. But, never fear, there will probably be prizes. HOWEVER, if there turns out to be no prizes at the end, don't go off whining and complaining to everybody you meet- when signing up for this competition, make sure you know that prizes are not definite or promised.

hmm..... I read quite a bit, but there are certain genres and book series I avoid. (Harry Potter, for instance) There will probably be questions I can't answer.....but what the heck, I'm in. I do have one question, though. We can't look stuff up on the internet, but are we allowed to do stuff in real life, like get the book out of a library or something?

Whoot ^-^ Obviously I'm not gonna post to enter, since I'm half running this :P

Amarise, I'll talk to Dawn about that and get back to you :)

I'm going to say yes for now. The point of this competition is to learn something, and I would be delighted if people got into this competition enough to actually check out a book from a library and read it. So, I will say that it is okay to look in the actual book the question concerned. But no internet searches, please. :)

That could change, depending on how much it is used.
