This is set in an Oceanic world called Mare Maris.

The planet doesn’t spin, so half of the world faces the Sun while the other doesn’t.
Seven Eighths of the world is Ocean, called Pelagus.
The other One Eighth is an island, the size of Asia.
This Island is called Insula.
Only one strip of this island is inhabitable however, because one half is scorchingly hot, while the other is freezing cold and dark.
That strip of land is called Incolumis.
The scorching hot land is called Dies Diei.
The freezing cold, dark land is called Nox Noctis.

Within the middle of that strip is a lake.
That lake is unnamed, and it reaches from the hot land to the cold land.
To the North and South there are two cities.
Each city holds exactly 1,000,000 people each.
If a child is born, a person will die.
So the number of people never exceeds 1,000,000.

After living peacefully for millions of years, both cities were disturbed when two great beings emerged roaring from the middle of the lake.
One being had the head of an eagle, the mane of a lion, the wings and body of an eagle, the front paws of a lion and the tail of a seal. It was surrounded by fire.
The other being had the head of a wolf, the horns of a ram, the body of a wolf, the hooves of a ram and the tail of a fish. It was surrounded by a pale unearthly glow.

The northern city believed that the southern city called the spirit Nox from the dark realm Nox Noctis.
And the southern city believed that the northern city called the spirit Dies from the light realm Dies Diei.
The northern city began worshipping Dies, in hopes to protect themselves from Nox.
And the southern city did the opposite.

Both cities near the lake fled.
The northern city fled to North Ora, the northern coast, and built a great temple for Dies. They also built a small village around the temple.
The southern city fled to South Ora, the southern coast, and built a great temple for Nox. Then, they also built a small village around the temple.

In all the haste, of fleeing the city and building the temples, etc. Neither city realised that 5 children were born on each side, but 5 people did not die. So now the total population is 2,000,010. But neither city realises it.

16 years later….

A mysterious stranger enters each village, the stranger visits the performing arts school there and selects 10 students each to visit a privileged Performing Arts Academy.

10 students are taken by the two strangers, from the North and the South, to the lake in the middle of Insula. Then, the students travel out into the middle of the lake, where they reach a large castle. This academy is called Diluculo.

The students are now in the entrance hall, having woken up from their journey, and have just realised that they are in an academy with both North and South, ie. Dies and Nox followers.

Two strangers emerge from the entrances, one is wearing a white cloak, the other a black cloak.

The one in the white cloak pulls her hood down to reveal that she is a young lady. She has fiery orange hair, midnight blue eyes and dark skin. “I am Iaran, follower of Dies. I teach dancing at this academy.”

The one in the black cloak now also pulls her hood down. Revealing dark brown hair, honey eyes and pale skin. “I am Baalinda, follower of Nox. I teach gymnastics at this academy.”

They both step forward and speak in unison, “We are the two headmistresses of this academy, Diluculo. You will learn singing, dancing, gymnastics and small amounts of herbal healing, weather magic and astronomy. There are other teachers, and you must all treat them with respect. Most do not follow either Dies, or Nox. Most follow the goddess of dawn, Diluculo, herself.”

Personality: Calm and cheerful, she was never a true worshiper of Dies and is happy to worship any other god/goddess, including Nox or Diluculo. She is a fast learner and an excellent singer, she also likes making friends.
Appearance: Pale pink hair, forest green eyes and pale skin. She wears a winged tiara and a ring with a tiny emerald in it.

Personality: Arrogant, He believes that Nox Noctis is the only city that matters, and he is not afraid to voice his views. He thinks that he is always right.
Appearance: Average height, average weight, spiky black hair.
History: After his birth 16 years ago, he was treated poorly. His mother was never living there, as she was always speaking with her friends. His father was also never there, was always working. He has learnt how to cope for himself, but his experiences on his own have let him believe that he is the only one worthy.

Personality: Cold, and may appear to be grouchy and cruel. She is usually unsociable and a person of few words. She only speaks when she feels it is necessary and unavoidable. She tries to get the point across through minimal communication, her words being short and blunt, but sometimes can't resist snapping a snide and sarcastic remark or two. However, just because she has no intention to say anything, doesn't mean she isn't listening. On the contrary, she is quite observant. Trusts no one but herself.

Appearance: Violet/purplish eyes, and dark brown, almost black, long hair that is almost always tied up in a bun or a similiar fashion. Has healthy fair skin. Is quite tall for her age and has a medium figure. Neatness is important to her. Her clothes may vary, though all of them suggest the same theme. Her choice of accessories and jewellery are made of silver/platinum, never gold.

History: Her parents were famous dancers, and they taught her to dance the moment she could walk. The training, however, was vigorous and hard. Her parents believed harsh training and practice was the only way to actually be good at anything, and so they never hesitated to drive their daughter to the limits. Day by day without exceptions, she was made to dance for at least seven hours, sometimes more if her parents felt she was doing poorly that particular day. Her parents played a major role to shaping her personality, who she was now. She was taught to believe she was gifted, but that meant she had to train harder. She was also taught to believe that she practised solely to be the best. Her parents would never settle for anything second best or anywhere below. It always had to be the very best.

Personality: Very shy and quiet, Mortedua is inclined towards the practice of magic. She often listens to people, piecing their conversation together to reveal how each person really feels. When she does speak, she is cunning.
Appearance: Dark red hair, nearly purple-looking, falls jaggedly around her face, bangs falling into her startlingly orange eyes. She is tall and skinny, walking with agile steps.
History: Two years ago her mother died, and since then she has far quieter. She lives with her father and uncle very close to the temple of Nox. Her family is very religious.

Personality: Ella can be very grouchy and nasty, and often is, but it obey the rules she has set for those around her, you'll be find.. She also has the need to be the best at everything, something which is impossible, but no one can talk her out of it.
Appearance: Ella had long, thick, brown hair that she has tied into a braid to keep it in order. The braid goes to her waist. Ella is also fairly short, being 4'11 ft tall. She is a on the plump side. However, while she is for the most part fairly normal, she has intense gray eyes, a trait that runs in her family.
History: Before Nox and Dies appeared, her family run an inn. She herself never saw it in person, but knows is was a very fancy inn, and her father decorated it. After both sides fled, her father got a job as an artist at the temple, which has resulted in a large income. Ella's parents hate the population control, so she is an only child, and a tad bit spoiled. She discovered her love for Gymnastics at a young age, and has practiced it since.

Personality: Ariah is very open-minded due to her beliefs. She is not very competitive but she knows what she is good at and lets everyone know about it. She might seem like a bit of a loner but she truly cares for the people around her and she is always there for them. She plays by the rules and dislikes people who can't follow them.
Appearance: Ariah's hair is brown, long, curly and shiny, she has emerald green eyes and tanned skin (white complexion). Her height is average as her weight though her body is quite curvy. Usually she wears a long dress of some kind and jewels her grandmother gave to her. (Pretty much like the girl in my avatar/signature)
History: Ariah never believed in worshiping higher powers so she never did. Her parents died when she was very young and she was raised by her grandmother who believed that it was Ariah's right to choose what to believe in. Instead Ariah chose to believe in the power of love and friendship and her free will. She has an angelic soprano voice and she learned to sing before she could talk. Her grandmother arranged her parts in local plays and musicals as often as she could and Ariah enjoyed performing. A couple of times she even got the chance to sing opera songs with the town's symphony orchestra.

Personality: An independent person, with a strong and steady determination. She doesn't mind criticism, but takes it seriously because she is something of a perfectionist.
Appearance: Short, straight blonde hair that comes to her shoulders, usually tied back into a tight, neat ponytail so that it stays out of her face. She has bright blue eyes and a rosy complextion. Her body is small and slim and moves swiftly and easily.
History: As a child, she had a semi-normal life in Nox Noctis. Her father was a hard working man, her mother an average housewife. She was an only child, but was never really spoiled, as her mother and father were generally much too busy and didn't have enough time to pay extra attention to her. When she was small, she had a spectacular love for gymnastics and spent her days outside in the backyard tumbling around on the soft moss and grass. She taught herself how to do somersaults and cartwheels, then moved onto more complex things.

Personality: Quiet, somewhat shy, but very friendly once she gets to know someone. She loves to read and learn and loves nature. She'd rather be outside in the grass and sunshine then in a building anyday. She likes to be creative (writing, drawing, etc.).
Appearance: She has straight, shoulder-length sky blue hair. Her eyes are a violet color and change slightly from magenta to indigo according to her mood and the lighting. She is thin, but toned and has creamy, lightly tanned skin. She is about 5' 2" tall.
History: She is the fourth child of seven. She isn't actually a blood child of her "parents". They found her on their doorstep one day in a basket with a note asking for them to take care of her. She doesn't know her real heredity, but her family has always been loving and supportive.

Personality: An out-going girl, she loves to try new things and make new friends. She's very kind and caring and is always there to lend a friend a helping hand.
Appearance: Moira has straight, shoulder length hazlenut hair which she wears down, bright blue eyes and fair skin. Her height is average for her age and she's pretty thin. Her clothes vary depending on her mood.
History: Moira was adopted when she was just a little baby. She has no idea of who her biological parents are and where they went. She questioned their disappearance many times throughout her life, but never got a answer that was for a sure. They were always the "Supposedly, your parents.." kind.
Since she 9, she made it a habit that she go out and gaze up at the brilliant stars above her. She would daydream of what her parents looked like and many other things. And she loved the stars, she thought they were wonderful. She loved everything that had to do with the night sky actually. But that wasn't the only thing she loved, she loved to dance. Her foster parents, son whom was 18, was a dancing instructor and taught her how to dance as she grew up. And she loved it.

I was about to ask the same thing. I hate to see RPs die before they even begin. You could change it to ten people and we'd only need one more person who believes in Nox. It's your desicion, though, so please don't feel pressured.)

By the way, the actual eventual purpose of this academy is to unite both cities and perform a spectacular dance that awakens the goddess Diluculo (of the dawn), this will make the world begin to spin. But only Iaran and Baalinda know this, the students just believe that they are here because they are gifted in the Performing Arts.

And, we will need some side characters... we'll need some more teachers and later on, some towns' people. I'm adding that to my first post.))

Personality: cheerful but usually quite, never angry. He is hard to intimdate. Raio has a magical stare that can rip at your emotions in seconds.

History: lived a normal life up to now, has always loved singing and is extremely good at it.
