[Whee.]

Nathan stared up at his ceiling, counting the dots. He was on two hunded and fifty three - he'd gotten to four hundred before... that was how boring his life was. Bored already, he sighed and swung his legs over the bed, standing up on the wooden floor with bare feet, brushing his brown hair out of his mysterious blue eyes.

He crept to the window and opened it, taking in the musty, dirty air. Every night he dreamed of better things. Every night he wished that something would take him out of this place, this Hell.

He reached forward with his arm through the bars his parents had installed to keep him from getting out, and tried to touch one of the dead trees... every day he tried this, and every night he failed...

He climbed onto the table and stuck his head out between the bars, a solitary tear dripping from his left eye, watching the skies, the stars... he erected his head... what was that? Stars flying? Six of them, flying in different directions, and one heading straight towards him.

Nathan jumped back, and onto the bed, just as something crashed through his window. "Ouch!" the thing called.

"What... who... when... why... how..." Nathan muttered in amazement, wondering why the crash hadn't brought his parents running.

Ceolos looked at Nathan, who was staring. "What, you never seen a star before?"

"Well, yes, but..."

"Then stop staring, kid! Why the heck were bars over your window?! Nearly had a heart attack when I saw I was on a crash collision course. This isn't meant to be what saving this world is like!" Ceolos said, irritably.

"Saving the world?" Nathan questioned.

"Well, yes," Ceolos replied. "You wished to make things better, right? And here I am, the one who will make things better! Why aren't you jumping up and down?"

"Forgive me, I do not have the strength," Nathan said softly, still in awe.

"Yeah, right, don't act all 'look at me I've got bars over my windows'. We have a world to save! Coming or not?"

Eithne stared unseeing at the words she had just wirtten, mind finally coming back to reality when a single tear fell to the parchment, lurring the words. She blinked furiously to clear the tears, anger at herself welling up. She checked it, but just barely. She'd promised herself she wouldn't cry, sworn it! Crying was weak, and she was anything but.

Taking a few deep breaths, Eithne calmed herself and stood, rising from the desk. Long, navy blue skirts swished around her, the tail ends of the silver sash that server as a belt trailing nearly as long as they did. The dress had only straps as sleeves, the length of her shoulder at best. Beneath it she wore a white tunic with long, flowing sleeves.

She made her way twards the grimy window. She could only just see outside through the concentrated filth, not that the scenery was any loss. She ignored it for now, gazing up at the sky...and gave a sudden gasp of surprise. A bright shape was hurtling towards her window! She quickly raised on arm, hurriedly wiping away the filth with her sleeve. Finally she could make out the figure....a star! Then, suddenly, it was in her room, practically radiating smugness.

What, never seen a star before? it asked, sarcastically.

"Have so! I've never seen one in my room, certainly. Mind telling me...uh, why?"

Save the world. I'm Saere, by the way. it said simply.

It was late in the evening, and Quino was outdoors. She was tending to a small garden she kept outside her home. It was a pitiful garden; no matter how much it was watered, the plants would still wither. She thought that even the water must be tainted.

At the moment, she was busy creating a fence to keep the few remaining animals away from her tiny crops, which is why she didn't notice the six stars coming from the sky, let alone the shockingly black star heading for her. The dark star found Quino to be a likely ally, but still wanted to test her mettle.

Quino, almost halfway through her project, felt something whiz by her head. She turned around to see what it was, and only saw darkness. This time, she felt something fairly large and spherical make contact with her back. She yelped in surprise, and grabbed a sack she had kept the fence posts in, while searching the area. It was still dark, however this time she saw a faint ball of distorted air moving towards her. As it attempted to ram her again, she caught the sphere in her sack, and tackled it. The sphere quivered, and muttered something Quino wasn't able to hear very well from inside the sack. Suddenly, the sack became a desk lamp, and a black circle sat next to it.

"Greetings, human, I apoligize for my antics earlier, I just needed to be sure you were ready to face the challenges ahead of you."

Quino wasn't sure of what to think. She could hear its deep voice, and somehow could tell that it was looking at her. The sensation was eerie, and was made even eerier when the map suddenly became a sack again, causing the circle to mumble.

"Ch-challenges?" she stammered.

"Ah, of course you don't know. I am called Void, and myself, along with five other stars, want to save your world."

"But...you're not a star! You'd be emitting light if you were."

"Don't know your history and astrology, eh? Black holes, though they absorb light, are stars too." He would've made a proud expression if he had a face when he finished saying this, and somehow Quino knew it.

"So...who are you, then? If we're going to work together, whether you want to or not, I must know what you are called."

"I'm Quino."

"Quino...Quino...not a bad name. Pretty nice compared to most human names, actually. Come, we have much to talk about."

"No, don't worry about your garden," he added, seeing Quino reach for her tools, "if we succeed, your plants will be able to live properly again."

"What do you mean again?"

"Goodness, you must sleep through your history classes. Looks like we do have a lot to discuss..."

((Long post! I would've added more, but that's enough for now.))

((good posts everyone =) I thought I didn't have time to write the second part, but I did, so here it is... wee this is fun!))

Raymond stared at the golden, five-pointed star, astonishment in his wide eyes. "My assistance?" He asked. "In what?"

"Oh, how do I put this?" Cilla said, holding her pointed head as she floated around in circles. "Stopping Shadow."

"Shadow?"

"I'll explain later. For now, can I have your name?"

"Raymond."

Cilla nodded, again floating around in circles. "A very noble name. A name fit for a hero. And that's what you'll be."

"A hero? But, why me? What makes me so special? I don't have any special powers, and I'm not particularly strong, or even intelligent."

"You, Raymond, have hope. And faith."

Raymond thought back to the moment before, when he had been crying. "I have hope?"

"Yes, you do. And stars need hope," Cilla added, finally stopping. "Come with me, I need your help in saving the world."

This is getting weirder every second, Raymond thought. "Wait, are you really a star?"

Cilla pouted. "Do I not look like one?"

Raymond considered, staring into her black, shining eyes. "I never knew stars had eyes."

Cilla shook her head. "Humans," she sighed. "They were always a little ignorant. Anyways, I can assure you that I am a real star. And I can prove it," she said. She focused for a moment, and a big carrot appeared upon Raymond's desk. He gasped, reaching out to touch it, but Cilla continued, "It's only a Mirage. It's one of my powers. Didn't anyone tell you that stars had powers?" She added, as Raymond's eyes widened. Then she looked towards the sky. "Come!" she said, "The others will get impatient."

"Where are we going? How do we get there?"

And looking into Raymond's deep, brown eyes, Cilla saw her own reflection. It was like seeing hope in his own eyes. "Just grab on to me and I'll fly you there. We're going to the Star Kingdom."

Raymond grabbed onto Cilla, just as his mom called, in a louder, more annoyed voice, for dinner, and they soared away, above the clouds.

"Okay. So, I'm supposed to help you save the world?" asked Eithne, obvious doubt in her voice.

That's the general idea of it, yes. Good girl.

"Uh-huh. Right. So. Why me, exactly?"

Did you know your desk could stop existing in you didn't believe in it? asked Saere, apparently out of the blue.

"I...what?! Um...no?"

Well, it could. Stars work the same way. Simply enough, I exist because you believe in me.

"I....see. So. Can you actually do anything useful, or are you just....glowy?"

Sare scowled, or at least the star equivalent of it. I have abilities, yes. But just for that comment you don't get to know what.

Eithne rolled her eyes. "Whatever. So, what are we going to sit here forever or actually, say, do something?"

Yes. We're going to the Star Kingdom. Without even waiting for acknowledgement, Saere floated forwards, and quite suddenly Eithne was lifted from the ground. A short yelp of surprise escaped her, and she instinctively grabbed ahold of the star. That was all Saere needed, as a moment later the wind was whipping her hair back, dark ground disappearing rapidly below.

"Come, Quino. We shall talk while we fly to the Star Kingdom, the place where my kind resides. Grab a hold."

Quino carefully touched Void, but to her surprise, her hand sunk into him. Void backed away from her hand quickly.

"Sorry. It appears as though it would be a very bad idea for you to do that."

"Why?" Quino asked.

"Because, I'm a black hole. The reason your hand sunk beneath my surface is the fact that most of me is dead space. My center, the singularity, would have crushed your hand to something smaller than you can fathom if you got too close to it."

"How will we travel, then?"

"Like this."

Void hovered close to Quino, and managed to lift her above the ground. Quino realized that she appeared to be orbiting the little star.

"My gravity appears to be strong enough to hold you. I hoped i wouldn't have to cary you this way, but it'll have to do."

As they sped off into the sky, Void told Quino everything he knew about Shadow, past history, and a bit about the other stars teamed up with him.

"..and we all have special abilities, magic, you could even call it."

"So, you can conjure stuff, like what you did, or tried to do, with the lamp?"

"No, no, along with the power to turn things somewhat invisible, I have the ability to cause highly improbable things to happen, such as turning your bag into a lamp. I'm not good at it though, I intended to make the sun rise so you'd have a better view of me, but got the lamp instead. It also doesn't last very long, as you probably noticed. I can perform it on all sorts of objects, enviroments, and such. For example, I could make the sky an oasis and turn you into a palm tree, assuming I had the proper grasp of that power."

Quino eyed him with amazement. "But...that's impossible!"

Void must have turned to make eye contact with her then, because she had the same eerie feeling.

"No, just highly improbable."

[ooc: heh… I seem to be late. =shiftyeyes= Well, anyways. I sort of kind of changed my star. Heh.]

There he was, as always, lying on the grass staring up at the sky hoping something more interesting than nothing would happen. It seemed that was the only good thing about his life. Living in some random town in the middle of nowhere meant he had a huge yard. Korian could successfully lie in the middle of the field and not see not be reminded of the fact that other people did in fact exist.

A sigh escaped him as he fell into an even more relaxed, even more unguarded state. There was nothing around for a long time. Or at the very least, that's what he thought, and he was allowed to keep that illusion for a while longer. Granted, it was a very short while longer, but a while nonetheless. It was that sixth sense that made him open his eyes again.

:Hey there!: some little voice said. Korian looked around and seemed to only see some big giant thing of black in front of him. :You're coming with me.: Korian just gave the, well, black thing in front of him the 'what in the world are you doing?' look.

:Well. I'm Aeson. And you are…?: The boy just kept his eyes on the little blob.

:Come on, you've got to have seen a star before. You know, one of those little shiny things in the sky?:

"Yah," responded Korian, "But you aren't shiny. Or bright. Or … um… shiny."

:Never seen a black dwarf before? Well, I guess you wouldn't have seeing we don't shine much.: The disbelieving boy continued to stare. :So what's your name?:

"Um. Korian."

:Well then, Korian. Grab on and let's go!: But despite such words, the human didn't move either hand because, for some reason or another, he was already attached. :Oh. I see. Let's go!:

"Where to?"

:To the Star Kingdom. Didn't I tell you already?:

"Why?"

:Oh stop with the questions already. You have no need to ask them.: Korian wasn't sure he wanted to even open his mouth again. They were in the sky and to say that Korian was not motion sick was a lie.

Iced - Silver [dot] Net ... now go. And maybe someday I'll actually get up something that resembles a pretty sig.

((it's ok, shavynel... ok, anyways, we'll meet up at the entrance to the Star Kingdom, where we can uh... interact XD... we may have to wait for Forest Majesty, but I think she'll post soon))

"Open yours eyes. We've arrived," said Cilla simply.

"I wasn't closing them," Raymond replied.

"Really? I thought you'd be scared."

"No, I'd always wanted to fly..." Raymond looked around at the Star Kingdom. Everything was so strange, and mysterious... the ground glowed purple, and there were many plants that he had never seen before. "Wow... it's so beautiful here..."

Cilla floated beside him, tears in her eyes. "Yes it is, isn't it? But it was more beautiful before."

"Cilla, what's wrong? Don't cry..."

Cilla motioned ahead. "Thats the Star Village. Many stars used to reside there, but there's only a few left now. Most of them have been captured by Shadow."

"Shadow again? Who is he?"

"We'll explain later, after everyone else gets here."

Raymond looked ahead, beyond the village, where he saw a gleaming, white palace glowing with a bright light. He had too many questions to ask.

((so out of character :'(, but oh well, you'll have to bear with me. My writing skills aren't what they used to be.))

Oy! Wakey wakey!

Eithne's eyes jerked open, her start of surprise nearly disloding her from Saere. "I wasn't sleeping! Just...think-wow! That's the Star Kingdom?" Eithne had caught sight of the gleaming palace in the distance, it's brilliant light refkected in her eyes. She appeared to be thoroughly entranced by the sight.

Well, it's part of it. That's the star village, there. Somehow Saere managed to gesture towards it, without the use of any sort of appendage. For the first time Since Eithne had met her, she felt a hint of something other than sarcasm in the star's voice....something almost like sadness.
There's not much left there now. Shadow took most of us.

Eithne hesitated a moment at this, subdued by the sorrow in the star's voice. "I-I'm sorry. Who...er...what's Shadow?"

I'll explain later. The other's should be here soo-ah-ha! Cilla! Saere turned, and Eithne's gaze followed, resting on a bright shape that was clearly another star, with a boy about her age standing nextto it. Both star and girl moved forwards, Eithne suddenly shy.

Nathan nodded, his mouth dry. "I'm coming."

"Hold on to me and stop dithering, then," Ceolos muttered.

Nathan stepped forward, and reached his hand out. It hovered a good three inches away from the star. "... What?" Ceolos asked Nathan impatiently.

"N... nothing..." Nathan answered, tears in his eyes again.

Ceolos rolled his eyes and floated forwards. Nathan's hand pushed against the star as it made contact, and he gripped tightly, finding himself leaving through the window.

"Wake up!"

Nathan opened his eyes and staggered slightly, blinking, still shaking from the trip. "This one's not a good flyer!" Ceolos said to the other two stars.

Though Nathan was a good bit older than the other two humans there, he shrank back, worried about what his parents would say now.

"Or a good socialiser..." Ceolos muttered, his sarcastic nature taking over.

"We're almost there!"

"Clearly. This place is gorgeous!"

Quino and Void floated towards the Star Kingdom. They both noticed the three other stars and humans down there, along with how empty the kingdom was.

"Are there still stars like you out there?" she asked.

"Yes. Not all of us were captured by Shadow, or that's how it was when we left. I don't know about everyone else. Now, though I already explained much of our plight to you on the way here, the other humans probably don't know, and even I didn't know everything, so it'll be explained to you again."

She nodded, as Void gently set her onto the ground. The black hole immediately began sizing up the other humans, and appeared to be debating whether or not he should give them the same treatment he gave Quino.

{ actually, Raymond's 15, but I'll edit my bio and make him 13 instead to suit you guys... I sort of like him more at 13 anyways, now that I think about it, and no one else is 13 =). I started typing the next part, but I'm not finished, and since I had to dinner now, I'll post it up later. }

{ EDIT: moved the post down there, as it could have easily been missed }

Marie finished the book she was reading, and slammed it shut with heavy thud. The ending of the book made her realize how awful this life was, compared how good it could be, within the pages. At the exact moment she shut the book a star zoomed into her room. She dropped the book, she told herself she had fallen asleep.

"Marie, right? Asta is the name!" The small star said brightly, sorry 'bout the pun.
"Um...yes. May I ask why a star is in my room?" Marie asked, unusually timid.
"To take you, so both of us- among others- can save the world." Asta then rolled her eyes, as though telling this to the mentally challenged.
"Take me?" Marie asked, still quiet.
Asta grinned evily. She glided forward,
"Hold on!" She exclaimed, and Marie had no choice but to do so. They were soon zooming out into the night sky. They made a smooth landing and Marie's eyes were wide, and her mouth in a round O.

((sorry took so long :( ))

Ceolos swung his nine 'prongs' protectively. "You're one to talk 'the one with hardly any arms'.

Nathan ducked to avoid getting hit by one of Ceolos' prongs hitting him in the face. Ceolos looked down and stopped swinging so Nathan good get back up.

"What're you on the floor for?" Ceolos demanded?

"Trying to avoid getting smacked in the face," Nathan said timidly.

"No point! You'll get smacked a lot where we're going." There was a pause.

"Nothing like a bit of encouragement," Nathan muttered.

{ moved that part down here, since it could have easily been missed (won't make a difference story-wise), and I added something else }

Cilla waved as one by one, several other stars appeared. "There's Saere! And that's Ceolos, the one with nine arms. And that's Void... the black hole..."

"Black hole?" Raymond inquired.

Cilla sighed. "They're what some stars become as they age. They absorb light, but they're technically stars, too." Raymond stared at them with wonder. He'd never known such things existed.

Raymond stood silently as a girl and the star, Saere, moved towards him. He hadn't really socialized with any other people his age before- I mean, who had he to socialize with? Raymond thought back to when he was young, when he had a friend named Cheryl. He remembered now... they used to walk to the dirty stream together and follow it for miles and miles...

What happened to her? a voice inside his head asked. Tears came to his eyes, again, as he answered himself: she died. One day as they were walking along the river. She slipped in, and fell... and her head hit the side of a large rock, and falling unconcious... she drowned. Raymond remembered how he had just stood there, shocked. Stupid, he told himself. You should have saved her. Tears flowed down his face, but he did not wipe them away- he didn't need nor want to.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

{ I don't know if this is considered god-modding, but I am the GC after all, and I just felt like doing extra writing. }

Shadow sat in his gleaming gold throne, clutching the magical Star staff. He enjoyed his position on the throne, before finally standing up, and calling on his advisor, a star named Eldfin.

Eldfin came rushing in. "You called, your majesty?" Shadow was the king now, that the

Shadow nodded. "So, how many stars are there left to transform?"

"There's only about fifteen. Considering that the star staff allows you to make one major wish every day, we should get it done by about two weeks."

Shadow continued nodding. "After we're done, we'll have the most powerful army in the universe. We'll send these, 'Shadow stars', we'll call them." Shadow cackled for a moment, before continuing: "Since I am their masters. Well we'll send them down to the earth, and listen to the people's wishes, but they'll grant exactly the opposite, is that right?" Shadow already knew this information, but hearing it again never hurt.

Eldfin nodded. "Yes, your majesty. You brainwash them when you make the wish."

Shadow laughed evilly. "Bring one of them forward. I shall transform it now."

Eldfin left, and returned with another star, who was pink, with small, red eyes in the centre.

She struggled in Eldfin's grasp, but he did not let go of her. She glared at the brown star with green eyes. "How dare you betray us! Father will not let you get away with it so easily! I am the princess of the Star Kingdom!"

Eldfin laughed. "Igrikra. I didn't not betray you. I serve Shadow, and Shadow only."

Shadow raised the Star Wand, and made a wish... and poof... Igrikra turned into a grey star with white eyes.

"Perfect," Shadow whispered. "With these 'Shadow Stars', the human world will be mine before long."

{ blah, to both parts. Wanted to add more interesting things. }
