Seeing how there's a lack of RPs at the moment and very few futuristic ones come up, I decided to start one based off of The hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy (which shall be known as H2G2 through the rest of this post). There's no plot to start out with; I'll introduce it as we go and there will be multiple 'chapters' if this lasts long enough. This RP shouldn't revolve around the H2G2 universe to any extreme points, so people who aren't familiar with the wholly remarkable book don't get too lost. Still, I would suggest buying the book and/or the movie, since they are the most easily obtainable forms and are very entertaining.
Rules:
-Obviously, obey any rules already set forth for the RP Board
-You may NOT be any of the main characters of H2G2, which includes Arthur, Ford, Zaphod, Trillian, Marvin, Slartibartfast, and Fenchurch. You may be one of the minor characters, however.
-You may not be directly realted to any of the aforementioned characters as well, though you may be another GPP robot (since it's arguable that robots can't be related to each other, and Marvin wouldn't want to admit you're his sibling anyway). You can be distant cousins, but no more.
-Speaking of robots, they are the only ones who can defy death, BUT they must be disabled somehow.*
-Your characters can be from different universes, madeup characters, etc. Go wild, just follow the rules.
---Please, no main charcters from other universes. This story is about the underdogs of the galaxy, not the leaders.
-You may have up to three characters, BUT:
---At least one of them should be from the H2G2 universe
---If it seems to me that you can't use three, I'll take away the third one until you prove otherwise
---You have to roleplay each character well. No one-liners for either of them.
---It is unnecessary to roleplay each character you control in every post, but please do so every other post.
-You may have your own ship. They can't be superpowerful, just like the characters
---Again, no famous/main ships.
-You may be a hitchhiker, but you cannot board the Heart of Gold or the Bistromath, since they are owned by the main characters
-Please don't roleplay a H2G2 race you don't understand. No one wants to see a Vogon that writes good poetry.
-If confused, please
read the Wiki
-If you can find a picture of your ship/character, go ahead and use it.
-Alignment may change throughout the game, as various senarios are revealed.
-Hitchhikers MUST carry a towel and a Guide. You'd be so unhoopy without them. A Sub-Etha transmitter (in the form of a thumb ring or a stick with buttons), though handy, isn't needed.
-Detail is good.
-If you've read this, post "Don't Panic" in large, friendly letters at the bottom of your post.
-Spelling is also good. A typo here and there is alright, but lots of poor spelling will result in various consenquences.
-Feel free to ask questions.
As for as the timeline is concerned, we're going with the order shown in the books with the movie representing the first one (in other words, Humma exists, there's a PoV gun, etc.). For simplicities sake, we're starting where the movie/first book left off.

Appearance: Looks remarkably like Marvin (movie version), but smaller and more feminine-looking. Her purple eyes are obtuse triangles pointed in such a way she has an angry expression, and has hair made of brass threads that's usually tied in a bun. Carries a gold-colored towel and has a copy of the Guide in her possession.
Personality: Enjoys attention and has an ego problem. She is friendly and charitable, but again this is mainly so she gets more attention. Being a robot, she's no fool...though she tends to make foolish decisions.
History: Like most of the GPP robots, Likiza was confined at home because the feedback gained from the prototype models was so poor the SCC made their first smart move in a millinea and didn't sell the rest of them. When she was four, Likiza managed to escape and hitchhiked across the galaxy for some time. She discovered the means of travel via black holes (as 'heat sinks') while abroad, and became facinated with the idea. She then returned to her home planet only to steal the Void Waker, a ship utilizing a black hole as its primary form of travel, the day before it was given to the head of the SCC as a gift. Likiza has been on the run from the Galactic Police ever since, though she's not a shy traveller.
Other: Thanks to a protocol that was installed to prevent her from becoming bored and thinking about the universe which would have the same effect it did on the prototype models (in a way it drove them insane), she likes knitting. She always keeps a bunch of knitting needles and some yarn handy and gives out her finished work to just about anyone.
Ship 1:
Name: Starship Void Waker

Main Drive: Quantum Core Navigator
Appearance: Conical, black, about 500 meters long. The main part of the cone is really four prongs that make the ship 1000 meters tall when fully extended, and help the ship in its forum of travel. The bulb-shape in the center houses everything on the ship. It is unarmed, though ramming another ship would have fewer consenquences than average.
Description: The Void Waker's QCN drive is powered by a small black hole kept in the engine room. The drive allows the ship to travel into any star (even a black hole) and come out another one. The trick involves approaching Lux 1 (light speed) and then just grazing the core, which transports you to the core of another star. In other words, you barely managed escape velocity at the last minute, and the energy from the gravitational stress shoots you to another location. The black hole also rpovides the ship's artificial gravity, though there are tons of force fields surrounding it that prevent it from 'eating' the ship and anyone inside.

Home Planet: Rigel XII (Makes the record lows on Earth seems boiling hot)
Class: Hitchhiker, Mechanic
Appearance: Human, but with completely black skin. Her eyes are completely white except for her pupils. Her hair and nails are also completely white. She wears a grey jumpsuit with black, metal shoulder and knee pads. A utility belt is tied around her waist, but it carries hitchhiking gear (white towel, Guide, etc.) instead of tools. Like most hitchhikers, she wears a silver thumb ring with is really a Sub-Etha transmitter. Nil, being from Rigel XII, has to wear a choker, two anklets, and two bracelets to generate an environment field around herself so she doesn't melt.
Personality: Loves sightseeing and wishes that others could also see what she sees. She tries to 'convert' people to hitchhikers, but when refused she turns to her natural aggressive side (being a Rigilian, an elemental race that fights each other constantly, this is understandable).
Other: Her home planter frequently experiences temperatures that are very close to absolute zero, so just about every other climate is extremely hot to her, hence why she wears the bracelets/anklets/choker to survive. All Rigilians need them for one reason or another.
Nil currently travels with Likiza, whom kindly gave her a lift.
Character 3:

Personality: Like the rest of her species, she likes power. Really likes power. Despite any friendly natures she may have, most of it is just so she can get more power (a bit like Likiza and attention, but more sinister). She's pretty clever, but lacks common sense. Despite anything she says, Vas doesn't mind taking orders from anyone, because it means she will be able to prove her worth.
History: After leaving the Irken Empire, trying a job in the Federation, and attemtping to do paperwork on Vogsphere, Vas decided to employ herself and became a bounty hunter. She doesn't get many assignments, so most of her time is spent wandering between the stars, but she is more than willing to drop everything she's doing for a job.
