A few recent artworks.... (Another small update...)

Mon Jan 30, 2006 11:31 pm

I've been busy during the last few days of my summer holiday... and have three pretty things to show you all!

First off.... a picture of my Silver Eyrie, Tuenn, which I wanted to make for his description.

Image

He was originally facing the opposite direction, then I realised that his earring and star were supposed to be on the other side!

Next up.... two dolls of Rikku from FFX-2 in my custom dressphere, Dragoon.

Image

I created this one first, I was just messing around, trying to come up with a snazzy outfit. I started with the top and shorts, then went on with the scarf and bright green socks. I originally intended to make it some sort of Ninja Rikku, but then I made the shoulder armour and boots and realised it suited a Dragoon more...

Afterwards I started on a different base and pondered who to draw, then decided that (since I liked Dragoon Rikku's outfit so much) I'd create another one of her....

Image

I'm really, really happy with the way that one turned out (except for the glove-blade things, they're horrid), the funny this is that I like different parts of the outfit in either picture.

In the first one I loved the boots, the armour and the gloves. But I didn't like any of those in the second picture, I prefered the top, shorts and scarf.

So... I want to hear opinions, or advice, or criticism (I'm still not very good with using Photoshop, especially without a tablet), or... anything really!

:P

EDIT: See the updates in my post way down below.....

coolness :D . i like the second picture of Rikku more, i think the stance is just, for lack of a better word, better. And i love the Eyrie! Good job.

That's a special coloring technique. I like how you did it. The wings of the eyrie look a little of, but I like the rest of it. I indeed like the second Rikku pose better. Her breasts seem a little large, though.

Yes, the wings were really annoying and hard. And I know that her breasts look big in that pose, but its based on a base, so I just stuck to the original design.

And this is the only way I seem to be able to colour things, it mainly involves use of shading an area with a 1-pixel soft brush (in Photoshop), I draw my main shape then fill with a middle base colour, then look at the shading on the body of the base to get an idea of the areas which need to be shaded, I then use my brush and gradualy shade darker or lighter. My shading's usually diagonal or cross hatched, and I vary opacity too, then I use the blur tool to make it look smooth.

I'm currently working on a picture of Yuna in her Gunner outfit from FFX-2 (just gotta finish her hair and hair tail), so expect to see that soon too. :D

Yeah art!

Tuenn looks awesome. I love the shaggyness of the fur. He looks like a rough and tumble pirate for sure!

The design of the girl is really cool. The colours are nice too. I agree, I like the second drawing better. I'd like to see a bigger version of the first one though.

Good proportion and a active pose. I really like how you drew her hands. Hands are always really hard for me. :)

More please!

Wow, those look pretty good ^^; Actually, they're amazing considering that you didn't use a tablet xP Both pics of the girl are great, I love the outfit =) One thing about the Eyrie, though- the position is kinda awkward ... ^^;

Awesome drawings! I have no idea how you could do the fab coloring you did without a tablet. I'm sooo outta control with my mouse.

Oh, and Rikku is my fav FF character cuz she's always happy and bubbly so naturally I love your drawings even more! :P

Er.... some of you seem to misunderstand... I use a base (a plain unclothed body) which I then create an outfit for.... I don't draw the body myself (not yet anyway)...

I absolutely love the picture of Tuenn! My favourite bits are the shaggy paws and tail. I think your shaded the feathers on his wings well too!

I'm going to be different and say I like the first picture of the Rikku doll better. The clothes are very cool - and I adore the scarf you've given her! I could never do hair like that either - the only thing I think it wrong is that her feet look a bit awkward.

Finally Yuna is done.... and I really got fed up with it by the end.

Image

The top worked so well and I was so happy with it, then the half-skirt was sooooo hard (the shading on that thing's like impossible) then the hair was too boofy and the hair-tail thing didn't want to work either.... *sigh*

I hope you guys like it anyway....

I'm working on a doll of Baalinda now... she's kinda... my muse... I guess... :P

EDIT:

My Baalinda doll is done! Originally she was gonna be wearing a kinda black outfit... but it turned more random...

Image

So... what do you all think?

2nd EDIT:

Spent like.... 2-3 hours this afternoon working on a second Baalinda doll. Done with the same style of base as my other one (and the 2nd Dragoon Rikku doll too) but in a slightly different outfit (still including her favourite pink and purple knee-high striped socks and silky blue ribbon though)....

Image

3rd EDIT:

ANOTHER Baalinda doll (eesh... she still isn't completely out of my system yet....)

Image

I don't really like the hair.... it didn't want to work today... and the socks look a bit odd.... oh well! :P

Oh!

And... well I'm not sure if this is the right place to put it... but I'm willing to do requests....

For dolls mainly... just give me a written description (or existing pic) of your character and you can tell me if you want me to use a certain base (that I've used in one of my other dolls)

... and I'll try to have it done within a week at the most!

Fri Feb 10, 2006 2:55 pm

Your women have, um, very advanced, erm, body parts.

Fri Feb 10, 2006 3:03 pm

Oh my goodness me! I'm definatley requesting.

I was wondering if you can do me as a fairy? I'll give you a photo of me and a description of the costume and so on. I just wanted to know if you could do it before requesting. :)
