Spacerocked! Guide by Shabba110

Spacerocked is a very simple game. You are an orange Grundo shooting ammo towards Sloth’s spaceship. You have three tries for every level to hit the spaceship which is right at the end of every level. You can only advance to the next level if you hit the spaceship.

Along the journey of your ammo, you will come across helpful or harmful objects. These are:

  • Green meteor: 200 points + a boost (good).
  • Red meteor: Destroys your ammo (bad).
  • Purple Grundo (on the ground): 500 points + a big boost (very good).
  • Pipe: If your ammo cant bounce over it, it will be rebounded back and will stop (bad).
  • Magma Pit (bright orange): 100 points + boosts your ammo upwards (good).
  • Crater (cracked with a red glow): If your ammo lands here, it’s gone (bad).
  • Small crater (steam vent): Will shoot out steam at your ammo – your ammo will fly straight up and not come back (bad).
  • Dirt patch on the ground: will give you either another try (ammo) or an extra purple Grundo boost.

When you start each level, you will see in the top right corner – your level, score, tries left and boosts left (as seen below). In each level, you will have 3 ammo (tries) and 3 boosts to start off with. Whenever you feel that your ammo needs a boost, you press “b” on your keyboard and a purple Grundo will fly out from the left and punch your ammo.

In each level, you will shoot the ammo from a catapult. As each level progresses, the catapult gets bigger and more sophisticated but the ammo also has further to go. The spaceship at the end also gets bigger and the ammo gets bigger as well – so it doesn’t bounce as well. There are also more harmful objects and less helpful ones.

Pictures of Levels 1, 2 and 3

As you can see in the pictures above, the slingshot can be green or red. in fact it will change from green to red all the time. When it is green, is when the catapult is at it’s highest power. This is the time when you should shoot (spacebar). Never shoot when it is red! This is when the power is lowest, the ammo will hardly move. Now you can also see that the slingshots are at different angles. You use the up and down keys to change the angle. You should always shoot when the slingshot is at its highest angle i.e. up. This is because, when the angle is high, the ammo will go higher meaning more air time, so it will travel further.

From the picture above, you can see that the ammo is not always rocks. It usually is, but you will also get cans and books as ammo. Both cans and books are slightly more difficult because they dont travel as high (they are heavier) and they dont bounce as well (not rounded).

Purple Grundo Boost

You press b to activate this. When you do, the screen freezes, all obstacles stop moving as well as your ammo, while a purple Grundo flies in from the left of the screen and punches your ammo. These are very very helpful, but unfortunately you only get 3 in a level. That’s why you shouldn’t waste it. After shooting the ammo, let the ammo go as far as it can until you fear it might stop, or be stopped (crater or pipe) or destroyed by a red meteor, then hit b. So, after you shoot your ammo, just let it go along its way, it might hit some of the helpful objects which will give you points and help you along the way and only if you feel that the ammo is going to stop then use the purple Grundo.

Now, sometimes if, lets say the ammo was about to hit a pipe and stop, and you hit b, the purple Grundo will come and punch your ammo, but it might just still hit the pipe and rebound, or hit a red meteor and explode. That’s why, if your ammo is about to hit a pipe, usually wait for it to be almost touching the pipe then hit b, so the Grundo will punch it through the pipe – or when it still above the pipe so that there’s no chance of it going near the pipe. Similarly, if it’s about to hit a red meteor, punch it only if it’s above the red meteor or on the right hand side of it.

Another trick with using the purple Grundo boost, is to use it when the meteor as as high as it can get, by this I mean, if for some reason you need to use the boost, wait till either it is at the top of the screen (coming down) or in the middle or bottom of the screen (going up). It can go up to 220 above the screen.

On some occasions, you might make your meteor travel all the way to the end but it might be too high (above the screen) and so it goes over Sloth’s ship and you miss, or it might not bounce high enough towards the end to hit the ship. If this happens, it counts as one try missed.

If you are going for points, on your first try, don’t press b at all and just let the ammo go wherever it goes. This way you can get from 200 to up to 2,000+ points and then use your second or third try to actually aim to get the ship.

Now in the first level or second level, it isn’t such a bad idea, to use two tries to get extra points and then the third to reach your destination. However, in the third level plus, you might only want to waste one try, because it becomes risky, if your meteor accidentally hits a red meteor etc. and then you get out and have to start from the beginning. It’s very frustrating let alone a waste of time and points from the first two levels – I’m talking from experience.

Good luck! – Shabba110
