Archives For Scamming Guides

Hackers and scammers run freely around the web…
Hackers and scammers are everywhere! Think they don’t exist, think again! They are in fact, VERY real, and they do just what you think they do. Trick you, and steal your hard earned NP, and items. They are very smart, and very slick. And believe me, you DON’T want to be part of their terrible plans. Stay away from hackers, and scammers!

How can I be safe and alert?
Sometimes, hackers and scammers are pretty sneaky. And pretty tempting. But, how can you be up to date on the latest and greatest ways to be safe? Who can help you and give you excellent peace of mind? Well, I made this site for this exact reason. To help innocent Neopians, like yourself, from being hacked and scammed. (Also check out the Neopets wall of shame to stay aware of the current threats on Neopets!)

Scamming- here is a full conversation that usually goes on between scammers and their victims. I did this as a test to show you that scammers can do this in a number of ways. Do not believe this, it was a trick I played on a scammer, showing that I was interested in what he told me. I am *~*Rio*~*, and he is kenny9905. Please be careful, this is what happened.

I know what it is like to be cheated. I know what it is like to loose my account to some person who made me tell my password, well here’s a few ways to stop it:

People Who Want Your Password:

Never ever give anyone your password, even if they offer you hundreds of thousands of neopoints, whether they give you the neopoints or not, once they find your password they log into your account and take items, neopoints and anything else, they then log back onto their proper account and sell the items and keep the neopoints… You will be left with nothing. (Remember do not keep your account because the more neopoints you earn and try to set your account back up the more they will take, if you really need your account change your password straight away.)

So, we’ve all been to Neopets’ chat boards, right? Ever seen a title like this:

I KNOW THIS PAGE WHERE YOU CAN DOUBLE NP!!!!

That is a scam. All they want is your account. *shivers* Scary thought, eh? Well, it scares me too, so I’m going to list all the ways a scammer could “attack”, so to say..

1. Fake login pages. Ever seen a URL like http://www.neopetz.com/ or something? That takes you to a login page that looks like a Neopets login. DO NOT LOG IN. Its fake, meaning that your beloved username and password are going to some psycho scammer. *mutters* Oldest one in the book!

I had a friend that I met in my guild Adopt Painted Pets, lets call her Veen. I met Veen when I put my Baby Aisha up for adoption in the guild’s database. She sent in a well written request to adopt her, very well written, about three neomails long.

I looked Veen up and she had 3 baby pets, a big shop, and a nice, well-rounded account. This, I said to myself, this is the perfect owner! Well, little did I know…

A few weeks later, I let her adopt my aisha. She was so thrilled that she gave me an old account of hers with Lab Ray, because I had mentioned that I was planning to buy it later that day. Of course, I absolutly fell over myself when she said I could keep the robot peophin that was in the account too! So she gave me all of these wonderful things, and in another few weeks, we were “best neofriends”.
