Neopets: How Much is Too Much? by Shoyru_Lover

The eternal question no doubt (actually not really, but it makes good conversation!!). How much Neopets is too much and is it really good for you?

I once chatted with a lovely girl called Kaorichan and, after a while, the topic of “How much time do you spend on Neopets” popped up. After careful prodding and prying, Kaorichan mentioned once speaking to a man who told her he spent on average about 13 hours a day on it. The response, “Hello! Wake up, have a shave and brush your teeth!” seemed to be on both our minds.

While the example above is an example of someone who clearly spends too much time on Neopets to the point where it is unhealthy, I’ve witnessed some people who are absolute fanatics about the game to the point that it scares me, even more than Cruella Devil on 101 Dalmatians (she did a real good job of terrifying me).

Dung in a Neopian World by diva_brat

You do have a point! There really IS a lot of asparagus floating around the place! Well, not literately floating, no wait, Faerie Asparagus… yeah… and apparently, I’m also a fan of Asparachucks! Anyways, I’ve also noticed that there’s a good deal of dung related items. Maybe your next article should be about dung, why it seems so popular (after all, there’s an avatar for dung! And furniture! (speaking of which, where’d you get the idea of Asparafurniture?) and where it fits into society… think about it. – gameboy42690

Well gameboy42690, I did think about it! And that’s why this whole column is dedicated solely to (drum roll here) DUN DUN DUNG! (make that whole mystery movie dun dun DUN noise there.) Except for the small part about Asparagus! In reply to how I got the idea for Asparafurniture, well I have a good imagination! Actually all it took was the fact that there’s dung furniture, cloud furniture, all kinds of strange furniture, so why shouldn’t there be Asparafurniture? I wish someone high up on TNT would read this and create some! I think that would be awesome! And I’m sure a ton of you fellow Neopians out there agree w/me on this! Also recently I’ve seen references to something called Aspararose, it’s been around some of the misc. boards and chats, so my question to my, likely small public, is have you ever seen this item? Does it really exist? I’ve searched Neopets for it, but if it does exist it’s not showing up! Fill me in on this!

Addiction or Not? When it is Time to Stop Playing Neopets For a While by Ellie

This is a guide about addiction to Neopets and when it affects your life. I would like to point out the things I’ve seen on users who play Neopets. They might not even realize what they’re doing, so here it is:

*Have you ever achieved a goal, for example, bought that paintbrush you’ve always wanted? You were so happy that you even went to the boards and told everyone about it, but what happens when this happiness goes too far?*

Trophies: A Neopets poll states that a user lookup shines more because of painted pets, NOT trophies. Trophies are nice. I mean who doesn’t want to get one because of the hard work! Trophies are nice to have, but don’t go around making people feel bad when you have about 20 trophies and they have only 2. Bragging isn’t always a good thing. Feel good about what you’ve achieved, but don’t make it part of your whole life. Trophies are just virtual pictures. Not real life. Keep in mind most people get those trophies through cheating, and the rest because of hard work, so really you might think “woah, he has 25 trophies” because you thought he earned them himself, but in reality, he might’ve only earned 10 by himself, the rest through cheating or who knows how (yes this is actually true, ever wonder why most users agree that one of the games it’s actually IMPOSSIBLE to get a 20,000,000 on? Unless it’s through cheating?) But hey, some people actually ARE good at games. Don’t let the fact of having 50 trophies control your life. When you grow up or quit Neopets, those trophies won’t matter anymore and hopefully you won’t lose them through hacking.

The First In-Depth Exploration of N00b and Anti-N00b Behaviour in the History of Neopia by Edith

For a newcomer to the message boards, the bombardment of seemingly nonsensical terminology can come as quite a shock. Yet it is not this particular feature of the good, old boards that leaves many a brave Neopian running in the opposite direction at the end of the day. What is this horror, this evil, this terror, you ask? Why – it is nothing more (but nothing less) than the menacing prospect of being labeled…*drum roll*… a n00b!

Thus, the purpose of this article is to do three things: first, to provide an insight into the world of n00bism; second, to identify the tenets pertaining to n00bism; and third, to proffer a solution so as to return the boards to all their previous glory.

My Neopets Thoughts: Neopoints Aren’t Everything by Lina

Before I started my Neopets account, all my friends were saying that it was a very boring site. I however being the only one of my friends whom had never tried neopets, I decided to give it a shot.

I created my Neopets account and created my first neopet. Then I slowly started to really enjoy the site, exploring around the world of Neopia, playing games, winning neopoints – which is now one of my obsessions. Because of that i decided to win even more neopoints by creating my shop.

Then one day when i logged on, And went to pets central, and scrolled down, I saw the Neopian adoption agency link. I clicked it and when I saw what it was i decided to get three more adopted neopets.
